Inti Raymi or Feast of Sun

The Inti Raymi, contemporary version is from the June 24, 1944, when the festivities were instituted in the city in memory of their ancient origin and cradle of great civilization Inka.

Scenarios

On June 24, the feast in honor of the Sun God, is done in the three historical and natural landscapes that are commonly used for the staging:



  • The Coricancha (Gold Cerco): In the Inca period was the main temple dedicated to the sun.

  • The Plaza de Armas (the old Huacaypata or Plaza del Guerrero): During the Inca Empire, this vast square was fully developed ceremony in the great ushnu or ceremonial platform.

  • Saqsaywaman (voice derives from the Quechua "saqsay" and "waman" which translated into Spanish means "sacíate falcon"). This impressive archaeological site is 3,555 m.s.n.m., one kilometer Inca Qolqanpata neighborhood.
